On a whim, I applied for a topic writers position and was hired. It pays a share of the revenue, if I post the required number of articles. I am learning quickly that posting the required number of articles is not easy for someone with a full time job, a husband that travels a great deal for work and a small child.
Writing for the web is a whole new world to me. I did not know what CMS until four months ago. I had never heard of the use of SEO, metadata or tags. I am learning as fast as I can. Reading blogs and researching the web is a great way for me to learn. I have more to learn, but I keep trying to suck up as much knowledge as I can.
I have learned that it is hard to work for and with people you never see and with whom you have little contact. I am not sure exactly how to take comments when they come in the form of email. Maybe it is just thin skin, but I feel much more criticized when it comes in the form of email.
Right now, I have not decided how long I will continue to write for this particular website, but as long as I am learning it is not a waste of time. So, I will keep up the effort needed.
